Company Milestones
1959 - Lafayette Storage & Moving founded by Alfonso J. Ferrentino, in Buffalo, NY
1963 - Lafayette Storage & Moving expands its scope from a local and intrastate carrier to a full service nationwide and worldwide carrier by becoming an agent for Atlas Van Lines
1969 - Lafayette Storage & Moving opens a brand new 25,000 square foot warehouse in West Henrietta, NY to service the Rochester, NY area. 1985 - Lafayette receives its first Million Dollar Booking award from Atlas Van Lines. Contracts with Rochester's largest companies, Kodak and Xerox, plays a major role in the accomplishment. From that year on, Corporate Employee Relocation has been Lafayette's specialty.
1985 - Lafayette expands its warehouse space by adding on a 10,000 square foot building behind the existing warehouse.
1987 - Lafayette joins 99 of its fellow Atlas Van Lines agents who purchase the Van Lines from Wesray corporation. In effect, Lafayette Storage and Moving becomes one of the founding stockholding agents who now own Atlas Van Lines. Since that transaction 15 years ago, Atlas Van Lines has become the model agent-owned Van Line in the industry.
1990 - Lafayette expands its business by opening Exit 46 Self Storage - a 160 unit self storage facility adjacent to its warehouse in West Henrietta. Service not provided as an agent for Atlas Van Lines.
1993 - President and C.E.O. Alfonso Ferrentino is voted to serve on the Atlas Van Lines World Group Board of Directors, and remains a director until 1997.
1999 - Lafayette successfully completes its largest commercial move in its history by moving the Blue Cross company into its new $35 Million facility over one weekend. The relocation featured 24-hour shifts from Friday evening April 9th, to Monday morning April 12th. Lafayette used the talents of over 250 full and part time workers to complete the move with no interruption of daily work for Blue Cross employees.
2000 - Atlas Van Lines opens its brand new headquarters in Evansville, Indiana. This building is a state of the art facility that will enable Lafayette and its fellow 800 worldwide Atlas agents to offer only the most modern dispatching and customer service techniques available in the industry today.
